What I cannot love, I overlook. Is that real friendship?

A quarrel between friends, when made up, adds a new tie to friendship.

Looking back, I feel for the missus. She used to get the worst of me.

I'm not mad when people talk bad about me; that's the way it is.

When I was a kid, we used to play 'Madden' and 'NCAA Football' all the time. I have two brothers, so we grew up on these games.

Lack of respect could make you angry. Lack of trust could get you killed.

At the time, I didn't know what forgiveness meant. I wouldn't really know what forgiveness meant for another year, until my pastor, Rick McKinley, happened to spell it out in a sermon. He said that when you forgive, you bear the burden somebody has given you without holding them accountable.

Here's a thing I've noticed: the greatest leaders, the ones who impact the world the most, are somehow able to turn the other cheek. It's as though they believe so solidly in love, so robustly in forgiveness, they have the ability to forgive and even love those who attack them.

Asking forgiveness involves giving power to the person you're seeking forgiveness from.

I think that's why so many couples fight, because they want their partners to validate them and affirm them, and if they don't get that, they feel as though they're going to die. And so they lash out. But it's a terrible thing to wake up and realize the person you just finished crucifying wasn't Jesus.

For so much of my life I had been defending Christianity because I thought to admit that we had done any wrong was to discredit the religious system as a whole, but it isn't a religious system, it is people following Christ; and the important thing to do, the right thing to do, was to apologize for getting in the way of Jesus.

I learned that true love turns the other cheek, does not take a wrong into account, loves all people regardless of their indifference or hostility.
