The door to my heart opens inward. I move through forgiveness to love.

Forgiveness belongs to those who know how to love in the first place.

The issue is that we, with our fears, our attacks, our judgments, our blame, and our constant emphasis on the realm of the body rather than the realm of love, eclipse the experience of true love.

Only someone who can say 'I love you' is capable of saying 'I forgive you.

Forgiveness is 'selective remembering'--a conscious decision to focus on love and let the rest go.

You will never forgive anyone more than God has already forgiven you.

You will be at your best forever, Even now you have good moments. Occasional glimpses of your heavenly self. When you change your baby's diaper, forgive your boss's temper, tolerate your spouse's moodiness, you display traces of saintliness.

And if we never agree, can't we agree to disagree? If God can tolerate my mistakes, can't I tolerate the mistakes of others? If God can overlook my errors, can't I overlook the errors of others? If God allows me with my foibles and failures to call him Father, shouldn't I extend the same grace to others? One thing's for sure. When we get to heaven, we'll be surprised at some of the folks we see. And some of them will be surprised when they see us.

It is foolish to harbor a grudge" (Eccles. 7:9 TEV). An eye for an eye becomes a neck for a neck and a job for a job and a reputation for a reputation. When does it stop? It stops when one person imitates David's God-dominated mind.

You and I are commanded—not urged, commanded—to keep no list of wrongs.

31Do not be bitter or angry or mad. Never shout angrily or say things to hurt others. Never do anything evil. 32Be kind and loving to each other, and forgive each other just as God forgave you in Christ.

Remarkable. He forgave their sin before they even committed it. He offered mercy before they even sought it.
