what is success?

Creation was never designed to satisfy your heart. Creation was made to be one big finger pointing you to the One who alone has the ability to satisfy your heart.

This desire for transcendence is in all of us because God placed it there. He constructed us to live for more than ourselves.

If you put too many things in your need category, you will end up frustrated with life, hurt by others, and doubting God's goodness.

Could it be, in your leadership community, that there are signs that the glory of achievement has begun to replace the glory of God as the most powerful motivator in the hearts of your leaders and of the way leadership plans, assesses, and does its work?

God's grace dethrones you from your little kingdom and welcomes you to a much better kingdom than you could ever want for yourself.

If you seek satisfaction, satisfaction will escape your grasp. But if you seek God, rest in his presence and grace, and put your heart in his most capable hands, he will satisfy your heart as nothing else can. You were made for him. Your heart was designed to be controlled by worship of him. Your inner security is meant to come from rest in him. Your sense of well-being is intended to come from a reliance on his wisdom, power, and love.

Prayer always forsakes the kingdom of self for the kingdom of God, and for that we all need forgiving, rescuing, and transforming grace.

That one special thing that you always wanted to accomplish never gets done because you lived each day under the tyranny of the urgent.

May your kingdom so rule my heart that stepping over your boundaries would no longer be attractive to me.

Your leadership community is in trouble if your leaders are more excited about a strategic planning meeting than a prayer meeting.

We all need to be reminded again and again of what God has declared are the most important things in life.
