Revenge is irreverent … To forgive someone is to display reverence. Forgiveness is not saying the one who hurt you was right. Forgiveness is stating that God is faithful and he will do what is right.

You and I are commanded—not urged, commanded—to keep no list of wrongs.

To forgive is to move on, not to think about the offense anymore. You don't excuse him, endorse her, or embrace them. You just route thoughts about them through heaven.

Oh, God, give us a longing—not for the sin of this world to be judged—but for the sinners of this world to be forgiven.

Sins that differ from ours always seem worse.
