I'VE BEEN ON A JOURNEY of rediscovering the Bible and the God behind it for over thirty years and I don't see that journey ending any time soon.

I have come to think, as have so many others in the course of history, that the goal of Christian faith is the experience of God, not the comprehension of God.

This is how they connected with God—in their time, in their way.

Rather than providing us with information to be downloaded, the Bible holds out for us an invitation to join an ancient, well-traveled, and sacred quest to know God, the world we live in, and our place in it. Not abstractly, but intimately and experientially.

a man found him wandering in the field and asked, “What are you looking for?”

But if from there you will seek the LORD your God, you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.

He commanded the people of Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to observe the law and the commandments.

So he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with you when you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.

But in their distress they turned to the LORD, the God of Israel, and sought Him, and He was found by them.
