The enemy uses disappointments to cause so much trouble in an unsettled heart. A heart hungry for something to ease the ache of disappointment is especially susceptible to the most dangerous forms of desire.

Alarmed, I resolve to remember who I am. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. Stay in the flow—my job is obedience; God's job is results. Shift from an attitude to gratitude. My reactions determine my reach.

Each day God can be the perfect portion of everything we need -- every longing we have, every desperate desire our souls cry out for. God will be our portion.

We were made for God's promises that lead to an abundant life of truth, strength, and joy.

it is clear the opposite of trusting God is leaning on our own understanding—trying to figure out things all on our own. And the evidence of whether or not I'm trusting Him is shown by where I place my focus. After all, we steer where we stare.

Dear Lord, I want to remember that You are always here for me — on good days and bad. Help me to enjoy the good ones and receive Your help on the not-so-good ones. In Jesus' name. Amen.

So the human heart was created in the context of the perfection of the garden of Eden. But we don't live there now. This is why our instincts keep firing off the lie that perfection is possible. We have pictures of perfection etched into the very DNA of our souls.
